It appears to me almost to be a 250 RMS finish. Requirements I have been reading about for aluminum head interface to cast iron block should be in the range of 63 to 110 RMS. Smoother the finish the better of course due to expansion/contraction of aluminum head. However, from all the closeup photos I have seen so far, I would say finish on stock engine deck is probably around 63 RMS or better.
Could someone PLEASE put up some photos for comparison? This is from a REPUTABLE shop that I went to. But this certainly stuck out at me when I can run my fingernails and catch it on bumps! Photos say alot also of course. I have NEVER seen an engine decked like this and CERTAINLY was NOT how I delivered it to the shop at time of teardown. This is not my first engine I have torn down and rebuilt. That is why it jumped out at me when I got it on the engine stand today to start reassembly.
